History
In 1926, the Coolangatta & Tweed Heads Golf Club was founded on
possibly one of the best sites in Australia. Over the past 76 years,
thousands of trees have been planted to create golf courses with
beautifully contoured fairways weaving through vast avenues of selected
trees and flora.
Consequently the courses are now a haven to vast numbers of birds and animals which enjoy this wonderful habitat.
What a wonderful environment for us all to enjoy: birdies, eagles, koalas. It sure beats the office!
As well as these unique features, the two championship layouts attract
international recognition. Having hosted many major championships,
golfers such as Sam Snead, Gary Player, Bernhard Langer and Greg
Norman, to mention just a few, have highly praised the facilities
offered.
West Course: Par 72 (Ladies 74)
This course offers a real challenge to all
golfers, testing the skills of social and scratch golfers alike. It
will be rewarding for well-designed play but poorly executed
shots will be penalised. The undulating layout offers both length and
configuration, with each hole of individual character to ensure
memorability.
Go on, be tempted, play it!
Hole 1, 485 m par 5:
A potential birdie hole requiring a long tee shot to the right
of the fairway bunker. Beware of the water hazard to the left of the green.
Hole 2, 371m par 4:
A difficult hole requiring a well positioned tee shot with
a mid to long iron approach to the green.
Hole 3, 174 m par 3:
The green slopes from top right to bottom left.
Hole 4, 480 m par 5:
A hole with an accurate tee shot down the middle setting up a challenging second shot across the lake.
Hole 5, 405 m par 4:
A dog leg left requiring a tee shot up the right hand side. The long iron approach is required
to the green.
Hole 6, 150 m par 3:
A hole for birdies. The green slopes from back right to front left.
