Order of Merit – Rules and Conditions – 2021

The NRDGA will conduct an “Order of Merit” competition at each of the NRDGA Junior & Cadet Open Days during 2021. The competition will be open to male and female players registered with any NRDGA club at the time each Junior & Cadet Open Day is conducted. 

Each Junior participant (boys and girls with GA handicaps) in a Junior Open Day will be allocated points based on:

(a) Participation                2 points

(b) Gross Score                10 points to the winner, 8 points to the 1st R/Up and 6 points to the 2nd R/Up; 

                                          5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 point(s) for the next 5 best gross scores.

(c) Net Score                     10 points to the winner, 8 points to the 1st R/Up and 6 points to the 2nd R/Up;

                                           5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 point(s) for the next 5 best net scores.

Each Cadet participant (boys and girls playing 9 hole events) in a Cadet Open Day will be allocated points based on:

(a) Participation                2 points

(b) Gross Score                  10 points to the winner, 8 points to the 1st R/Up and 6 points to the 2nd R/Up;

                                            5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 point(s) for the next 5 best gross scores.

(c) Net Score                      10 points to the winner, 8 points to the 1st R/Up and 6 points to the 2nd R/Up;

                                            5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 point(s) for the next 5 best net scores.

Prizes will be awarded on the basis of the CUMMULATIVE points accumulated throughout the 2021 year.  Prize categories are as follows:

Junior ($100) and Cadet ($50) prises will also be awarded for “Most Improved” (highest reduction in handicap – minimum 60% of events conducted)

Rules of competition

  • NRDGA Junior golfers must have a GA handicap and be Under 18 years of age at January 1st, 2021. Juniors who have their 18th birthday during 2021 will be eligible to accumulate Order of Merit points for the full 2021 Order of Merit Schedule.
  • NRDGA Cadet golfers must be a registered player at their home course with a handicap allocated/approved by their home course Cadet/Junior Co-ordinator. Maximum handicap will be 36.
  • Only one event will be conducted for each category of competition on each Junior Open Day (i.e. on occasions where the Junior competition is separated into “age group” or “handicap” divisions, the Order of Merit Competition will disregard these divisions and allocate OOM points based on one single Junior event).
  • The NRDGA Order of Merit Competition will run during the calendar year 2021 and final Order of Merit point tallies will be determined after the Byron Bay Junior Open Day on October 17th, 2021.
  • Junior and Cadet golfers will only be awarded one Order of Merit prize in the event they conduct (i.e. the Gross Winner(s) in any event will not be entitled to a Net Winner prize as well.)
  • The NRDGA Order of Merit competition will be co-ordinated by the NRDGA Junior Golf Coordinator – Gerard Wilkinson (Mob: 0419 708 676).
