Grafton Junior Open Day – OOM Update and adjusted 9 hole handicaps

Posted on: 21 June

At another glorious day weather wise in Grafton yesterday we were pleased to welcome an amazing group of junior golfers to a golf course in top condition after rains in the District a couple of months ago.  Our numbers were slightly up on the Maclean Junior Day one week ago so we are hopeful that Junior Golf can return to some level of normality in the coming months.

In particular, it was exciting to note that there were more 18 hole GIRL players than there were boys in their side of the competition.  The local Grafton girl, Hollie Fuller, had gross score of 79 which also beat the boys best score by quite a few shots.  With 3 lots of sisters playing Junior golf in the Northern Rivers these days it looks like becoming a family affair.

While Hollie took out the girls gross event, another great score (72) was recorded by Stella Payne (Ballina) to win the girls net prize.

The Junior boys event had a competitive field and in the end nothing could separate Ollie Payne (Ballina) and Zane Lowe (Yamba).  Zane managed to sink a 30 foot putt on the first playoff hole for a half.  However, Ollie was able to get up and down from a bunker to win the Junior boys event on the second hole of sudden death.

The updated OOM tables are available here.  Several close tussles are developing over both the 18 hole and 9 hole competitions.

The adjusted 9 hole handicaps after the Grafton event are also available here
