Lismore Workers Easter Tournament - Taylor’s sensational 65 takes title

Posted on 06/04/18

A sensational 65 in the second round from Casino"s Riley Taylor (+3 handicap) gave him the Lismore Workers Golf Club Easter Tournament by a whopping 7 strokes. Taylor shot an even par 70 in the first round.

The golf course was in fantastic condition, marred only by heavy rainfall late in the week of the event which unfortunately created wet playing conditions. Fortunately however, there was no significant rainfall during the event!

The event included 205 players with close to 400 rounds of golf played across the two days. There were 58 visiting players from 25 golf clubs, with visitors predominately from the Northern Rivers and South-East Queensland, but as far away as Wagga Wagga. The event organiser, Peter Jaeger, stated at the presentation of trophies that the quality of this tournament is demonstrated by the number of low marker players who entered the event including 44 players with a handicap of 5 or less, including 12 players on handicaps of scratch or less. Peter went on to state that the tournament is recognised in the region as a being a quality 36 hole stroke event for amateur players; that the tournament this year captured “generation next” including names like: Riley Taylor, Jay Mackenzie, Kyle Underwood, Alex Hunt, Conor Whitelock, Isaac Outridge, Jack Harlan-Robertson, Jackson Magarry, Harvey Remfrey; all emerging stars from within the Northern Rivers region.
