NRDGA Junior Open Days and Order of Merit Overview
The Northern Rivers District Golf Association (NRDGA) runs a series of Junior Open Days throughout the year, hosted by 15 member clubs. These events typically offer 18-hole, 9-hole, and 5-hole competitions, catering to players of all abilities.
Look under the Upcoming Events section to find the next competition. Please enter using the form provided.
And you can view each event’s results and Order of Merit points after each event in the Junior News section.
Eligibility
All juniors under 18 are welcome to compete — you don’t need to be from the Northern Rivers region to enter.
NRDGA-Specific Events
Some events are exclusive to NRDGA-affiliated clubs:
- Northern Rivers Championship – Held each September, this is a 36-hole, two-day event for 18-hole players.
- Order of Merit (OOM) – A year-long competition for both 18-hole and 9-hole divisions, with points awarded at each event.
Order of Merit – How It Works
Eligibility for Points
- Only players who are financial members of an NRDGA-affiliated club can earn points.
- Players who belong to multiple clubs are eligible if they have paid full-year affiliation fees to an NRDGA club.
Points Allocation
All NRDGA events count toward the OOM — missing an event means missing potential points, just like the FedEx Cup or DP World Tour rankings.

Point Scenario Examples
-
Two players tied for 3rd → average of 3rd & 4th = (6 + 5) ÷ 2 = 5.5 points each
-
Three players tied for 2nd → average of 2nd, 3rd & 4th = (8 + 6 + 5) ÷ 3 = 6.33 points each
-
If a non-NRDGA player wins, the highest finishing NRDGA player receives 10 points. The same adjustment applies throughout the top eight — NRDGA players are awarded points based on their relative finishing positions among eligible competitors.
This system rewards consistency and participation — the more events you play, the better your chances of climbing the NRDGA Junior Order of Merit leaderboard.
