Results from Mullumbimby including OOM update and adjusted 9 hole handicaps

Posted on: 12 September

On a glorious spring day, a field of 28 starters turned up at Mullumbimby for what is always an enjoyable and hospitable Junior day.  Mullumbimby Golf Club have always been strong supporters of Junior golf and the club was committed to making the day available to continue the re-emergence of Junior golf in the Northern Rivers.

No doubt the highlight of the day was the round from George Jones (Lismore).  Playing off a handicap of 10, George shot a PB of 4 over par 74 to win the Junior Boys gross event by 5 shots from Zane Lowe (Yamba).  The Junior boys net event was won by Cohen Robinson (Mullumbimby) with a score of 68.  Tana Lowe (Yamba) took out the Junior girls event to no doubt make an enjoyable trip home for the Lowe family.

We were pleased to see a strong field turn out for the 9 hole event with Jackson Whitty (Ballina) shooting the best score of the day with 47 shots.  Jackson is a recent graduate from the NCAS Development squad and is no doubt benefiting from the coaching gained as part of that commitment.  Zion Wagner (Lismore) had the best net score and locals Mira Brittain and Phoebe Byron had a close tussle in the 9 hole girls competition.

Tom Guy is obviously a player on the move with an impressive score of 21 hits leading the field in the 5 hole event.
