Lowe family goes LOW at Ocean Shores
Posted on: 19 September
On a glorious Spring day at Ocean Shores Country Club, 25 young golfers were eager to test their skills at one of the tougher courses in the Northern Rivers. Players travelled from Royal Pines in Queensland and Yamba in the south to take advantage of a course quickly recovering from recent flood damage.
The Lowe family from the Yamba Golf Club were the recipients of the major prizes in both the Boys and Girls Junior events. Zane Lowe shot one of his better rounds with a 4 over par 76 off a handicap of 8 to take home the gross prize in the Junior Boys division. Noah Adey (Iluka) had a score of 5 better than his handicap to secure the Boys net prize. Zane’ sister, Tana also broke her handicap with net 3 under par 69 to win the Junior Girls division. Tana’s round was also helped by a magnificent HOLE IN ONE on the 3rd hole and was rewarded by a special trophy from the Ocean Shores Women’s Golf group.
The 9 hole Boys Division proved a testing event for most of the players on a demanding layout. However, Zion Wagner (Lismore) was able to play well with 50 hits enabling him to take out the gross prize. The Gary Ridge trophy was also awarded to Zion in memory of a past Ocean Shores member. The 9 hole net winner was Junah Robins from Mullumbimby Golf Club. Phoebe Byron (Mullumbimby) looks to be enjoying her golf as a recently recruited 9 hole player and would welcome some more girls in this Division to give her some competition and companionship.
Zade Wagner had 29 hits to lead home the 5 hole players.
