Teven – Junior Open – 28 March 2026

Teven Sets the Standard for Golf Northern Rivers’ New Era

In fitting fashion, the first event under the newly branded Golf Northern Rivers (GNR) banner was staged at Teven—already renowned as one of the annual hosts of the regional NSW Open qualifiers for the Professionals.

From the moment players arrived, it felt like something bigger. Driving down Eltham Road, the scene was hard to believe—banners flying, a spectacular course layout, and a buzz that had parents stopping for photos and soaking in the atmosphere. There was a clear sense of excitement… and perhaps a touch of envy that the juniors were the ones teeing it up.

The course itself was presented at a truly professional level. Greens were running fast and true—arguably feels like twice the speed of anything seen within 200km—while the experience was elevated with everything from donuts on arrival (a junior golf staple) to an army of dedicated volunteers. Teven members turned out in force, assisting with tee starts, chaperoning groups across the layout, and supporting on-course rulings.

Off the course, the attention to detail continued, with thoughtfully prepared trophies and prizes rounding out what was a standout event. With close to 80 juniors in the field, it marked one of the largest turnouts in recent times and a hugely successful launch for the new brand.

A special thanks goes to Luke and the entire Teven team, whose passion and effort were evident at every turn.

On the leaderboard, Noah Adey continued his outstanding form, adapting superbly to the challenging greens to post a one-over par round and secure a three-shot victory in the Gross.

In the Nett division, Billy Smith produced the round of his life, finishing five-over par – an incredible six shots under his handicap to claim a commanding win.

The 9-hole competition saw an Ocean Shores clean sweep in the Gross (1st, 2nd and 3rd), with Bradly James leading the charge, while Ben Mooney from Ballina took out the Nett honours.

The 5-hole field was once again strong, with a dozen up-and-coming players competing – and Maclean, continuing its dominance in the 5 hole junior ranks.

The moment of the day, however, belonged to Jonah, who delivered a memory that will last a lifetime—holing out on the 8th for a remarkable hole-in-one. Achieved under pressure in a major event and witnessed by a large gallery, the ace sparked scenes of celebration as fellow competitors ran from across the course to join him on the green. While it might be said a hole-in-one comes along only once in every 12,500, far fewer will ever earn the right to ring the bell at Teven. A special moment—well done, Jonah!

And the momentum didn’t stop there—the tour rolled on to Maclean on Sunday for more action.
